Red Vein Jasper and Carnelian

Jasper is an opaque rock of virtually any colour stemming from the mineral content of the original sediments or ash. Patterns arise during the consolidation process forming flow and depositional patterns in the original silica-rich sediment or volcanic ash.

Red vein jasper takes its name from the blood vein-like formation in the stone in red, and orange colours. Following the stones' colour scheme I have created this long necklace (Rope) combining the jasper with carnelian.

I created the pendant from two vein jasper big beads and a calla lily-carved carnelian bead at the end drop. The lily has tiny carnelian beads hanging down from its centre resembling the flower stems.

I have used the same vein jasper pattern in two different shapes of beads; rectangular & round, orange jasper

(dyed) round beads, two big 20mm carnelian beads and as the stone itself forms grey colours I used grey quartz and

labradorite nuggets. All the findings in this long necklace are 925 S.Silver.

Jasper and Carnelian make a perfect couple as they both come from the chalcedony family and their colour shades are very similar.
